Exploring and discussing a variety of relationship topics and issues for people in all kinds of relationships; including partnerships, family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, roommates and more.

Sep 25, 2018

One of the most common complaints in distressed marriages, partnerships, and relationships is that one - or both - people feel as though the other is not really listening to them. Mastering the art of listening is a critical component for improving your communication skills - and ultimately - your ability to deepen your connection with your partner and the people around you.

On today’s episode, I discuss the importance of honing your listening skills and how it can impact and improve your relationship with your partner as well as your friends, family, and colleagues. I explain what reflective listening is and how monitoring your self-talk can impact your ability to become a good listener for others. I also explain what it means to listen with empathy and how being present, curious, and interested in a conversation you are engaged in can impact the way the speaker feels as well as how it can help deepen the connection with them.
